一帆 — “one sail”.

it comes from 一帆风顺 (yī fān fēng shùn), the blessing “may the wind fill your sails” — smooth sailing, everything going your way.

it is the most common chinese rendering of “yifan”. some families write 逸凡 (at ease, extraordinary) or 亦凡 (also ordinary). this site reads it as 一帆 — tell me if yours is different.

yifan is the chinese name of harrison edwards — full-time entrepreneur since 13, solo builder since 2025, currently in shenzhen. this archive is the long list.

    • started the day chatgpt released image analysis — the moment i knew what a VLM could do. the app i play the sport every day and need. 3 years, $50k+ self-funded, three failed outsourced attempts, then in 2025: mvp coded solo. 10+ companies already waiting to buy. hardware is the last missing piece — that's why shenzhen.

    • a free chrome extension: one click, an LLM tidies up grammar in any chat box. ~1,000 users. never figured out how to monetise it — moved on.

    • ai video-ad automation — i was my own guaranteed customer. ~$20k of my own money, 3 teams, ~10 developers. all failed. “i could see ai could do it, but the software wasn't getting built.” the moment that ended outsourced development forever.

    • after 3 failed outsourced attempts, the mvp got built by my own hands. showed friends and mentors — they loved it. but funds were low and phonicsmaker was growing, so the pivot short-term: generate runway, then fund padelbuddy properly.

    • reactivated the storybook generator built for mum, fixed the bugs: $9.7k in month 1. 10–20 customers/day, $40 cac against a $140 annual sub, first whole school at $1k/year. end of april: $200/day on facebook ads → $500–1,000/day first-touch. may est. $25k. 1-person company, margins great.

    • vision & voice category, shenzhen. no cs degree, no chinese — just ai-coding experience. 1 hour of sleep on the floor of peking university night one, zero night two. won. “that's the enthusiasm i have for learning new things.”

    • omo — voice-first holographic ai cofounder, with a 15-year-old partner. solo-coded the entire software stack, 3–6 claude code agents in parallel, 16-hour stretches in the hotel room. 3rd place. since: strong inbound investor interest — now fundraising. plan: usable v1 in 2 weeks, first mrr in.

    • learning hardware — the last missing piece before padelbuddy ships. seriously thinking of making china home. padel 1.5–3 hours every day, non-negotiable. the plan: scale & sell phonicsmaker → fund padelbuddy properly. 25 flights in 2024, 30 in 2025, 8 already in 2026. “keep moving, or the mind freezes.”

    • another hackathon, another win: the agent builder hackathon at shenzhen university — 4 hours, and first prize (一等奖). the whole arc filmed: walking cold-open with your real voice, live in-world demo, team dinner. this is the film.

    • the month everything moved: phonicsmaker sold — 8 jul, clean handover (maziwa llc), the war chest for padelbuddy. the ugc ad machine went full in-house: minecraft-kid ads, caption styles, remakes — plus the whole playbook: ads, seo, email, sales, accounting, retention, legal. and omo world shipped: the eu cloud-gaming pilot (9 jul), the 45-second launch film, and the 3-minute manifesto — "the world was always the interface". every build filmed along the way.
